Landing in my Father’s Heart Presence
I recently came across a photograph of my parents in their early marriage. My mother is basking in the sun, leaning back in sweet abandon against my handsome smiling young father.
I travel down in inner space and
land in my father’s heart-presence.
How deeply I am rooted in his love.
I came to his call
when he shared his passion with her.
She did not know much, but
he had chosen a kind, smart and beautiful girl
who for better or worse
chose to give him her trust
and followed him,
first into heaven,
then into hell.
I feel their energetic streams
converging in my blood.
These two and their ancestors
is what I am made of.
I am the result of a moment in time
where an amalgam of forces
rushing through the generations
converged and intersected
in one cellular explosion
creating this one breathing life,
this heart beat in which I dwell.
A maelstrom of colors glows in the dark.
My mother’s music and my father’s hum,
blending Chopin and
Rabindranath Tagore
in my blood.
